First Impression

The XBOX got set up and tuned last night after the two younger boys went to bed. First off, there were a lot of updates to download - thank goodness for the 10Mbps connection! And of course, once it was ready to go, it needed to be tested.

Just Dance 3
First up, the wife decided to try out some dance moves. There is also an ulterior motive at work here - I don't dance (I'm not coordinated in the slightest), and this is her way of getting me to dance with her (Love you!)

Anyways, we all had fun laughing at the moves that were needed to emulate on-screen. Then we laughed as our oldest son started to dance. Daft Punk, Taio Cruz - quite an eclectic mix - which is nice. And we noticed that as the points racked up, we unlocked another song. This could get interesting.

No, I didn't dance. This is one that I'll have to work up to.

Kinect Adventures
After muscles started to ache from dancing (or laughing), we switched to the "stock" Kinect game. First up, our oldest (and yes, me - finally) started playing a version of Breakout where you are the paddle. Nothing like batting a ball with your virtual head and having 5 or 6 come flying back at you.

Next up was an underwater adventure in which you have to plug leaks in an underwater glass bubble. Let's just say it was a good thing that we weren't actually underwater. :)

Once we dried out, we went topside to tilt and jump our way down a raging river in an oversized raft. This is fun to coordinate when you choose to both be in the same raft. Not too shabby for a first attempt.

Lego Indiana Jones
Finally, I returned to the "retro" style of play while sitting, and relived the opening scenes of the first Indiana Jones movie, Lego style. Loved the call-out to the Star Wars easter eggs by having Indy offer C3PO's head to his nemesis upon escaping from the temple!

The Next Step is to devise a workout of sorts by playing some of the more active games.
